One of the amazing things about the staff at Ardenwoods is their commitment to our residents. During the winter, some of our high school aged servers stayed overnight to keep the kitchen appropriately staffed. Our Ardenwoods Kitchen Manager, John Redden, recently offered a resident-only cooking expo. Our Ardenwoods actitivities calendar is full of a variety of continued learning experiences specifically targeted to our residents’ interests.
The expo focused around the topic of the process of Caramelization versus Maillard. During this discussion John created a few dishes to demonstrate the different techniques and the effect that they can have on the taste of your food. The residents in attendance got to sample filet, mushrooms and onions, and a baked apple dessert with homemade caramel sauce.
We always try to find ways to keep our residents active and engaged in the Ardenwoods community. Moving to Ardenwoods should mean that instead of feeling like you’re giving up your lifestyle, that you’re adopting an even more active and full life with any of our activity committees that you can join or resident events that we hold regularly. The free cooking expo offered all residents in attendance the best seta in the house! Make sure you continue checking in on our blog for updates on the upcoming and past events!
