Earlier this year, Bill Melton, Accounting Director, was able to travel to Japan for a ski trip with the Asheville Ski Club. They spent a week skiing in Hakuba Valley, Nagano, with two days in Tokyo.
Bill’s been skiing regularly since he was in his twenties, deciding to take lessons after a scary experience in his teens. He doesn’t travel with his own skis; he uses the opportunity to try out new or different skis.
The entire trip was a great time, but the first day of skiing was best of all. There were beautiful blue skies with cold temperatures that made for fantastic spring ski conditions. Plus, they enjoyed seeing temples and shrines in Tokyo and even took in an early season baseball game. And who can forget the delicious cuisine? Bill’s favorite dish of the trip was sukiyaki served with miso soup!
Bill has traveled all over the world to ski. But what’s on his skiing bucket list? Portillo, Chile!
