Once again, Ardenwoods has very generously responded to an opportunity to reach out to others during this holiday season. On Saturday, November 16, more than 60 boxes were packed by Ardenwoods residents for Operation Christmas Child and Meals on Wheels.
Since its inception in 1990, Operation Christmas Child, or OCC, has delivered 157 million gift-filled boxes to children all over the world. Our boxes will join thousands of others as they travel from our Clubhouse to a local church, to a warehouse for preparation for transport, to be shipped to children who have never had a gift of any kind. Local pastors in over 100 countries distribute the boxes as they share with the children the love of others and the love of God. OCC received 30 boxes from Ardenwoods plus enough things to fill three or four boxes. Simply put, we ran out of boxes this year!
35 more boxes will go to the Meals on Wheels of Asheville & Buncombe county to be distributed as Christmas gifts to seniors who are homebound or unable to prepare meals for themselves. Seniors who receive daily meals from this program will receive a festively wrapped box with special items for the holiday season. These boxes left Ardenwoods on December 3rd for distribution.
Thank you, Ardenwoods, for a job well done and for sharing so generously with those less fortunate.
